Cullowhee, N.C. - With Hurricane Rita in the Gulf of Mexico and projected to hit the Texas coast Friday night or Saturday morning, both the Western Carolina and Nicholls State athletics departments are monitoring the situation to see if it takes a turn to the northeast for Louisiana. Until further notice, the 19th-ranked Catamount football squad will travel to Thibodaux this weekend to face Colonels, ranked 41st in the I-AA media poll and 39th in the coaches poll. Kickoff on Saturday (Sept. 24) is set for 2:00 pm (CT) or 3:00 pm (ET).
If you can not make the trip, fans can still follow Western on the Catamount Sports Network, which includes affiliates in Asheville (WZNN, 1350 AM), Cullowhee (WWCU, 90.5 FM), Franklin (WFSC, 1050 AM), Hendersonville (WTZQ, 1600 AM) and Sylva (WRGC, 680 AM).
