Cullowhee, N.C. - The Southern Conference has decided to postpone all intercollegiate atheltic competitions through Sunday. Sept. 16. With that decision, the football game scheduled for this Saturday (Sept. 16) between Western Carolina and The Citadel has been postponed.
Western Carolina and The Citadel have agreed to play the contest on Nov. 17 in Cullowhee.
The Catamount volleyball, women's soccer and men's golf teams will have their matches for this weekend rescheduled as soon as possible. The volleyball team was set to play at Davidson (Sept. 15) and UNC Greensboro (Sept. 16). The soccer team was scheduled to travel to Washington D.C., to face Howard on Sept. 16. The men's golf team was to play in a two day tournament this weekend hosted by Elon (Sunset Beach, N.C.).
"We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, but believe this is the right decision," WCU athletics director Jeff Compher said.
