Men's Basketball Falls To Georgia Southern, 96-67

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Julius Jenkins scored a career-high 34 points - including 6-of-11 from 3-point range - to lead Georgia Southern to a 96-67 rout of Western Carolina in a Southern Conference game Monday night.

Jenkins scored 27 in the first half as the Eagles (10-7, 4-3 conference) raced to a 54-30 halftime lead. He was shooting 11-of-14 at intermission and finished the game hitting 14-of-21.

Frank Bennett, Edward Keith and Sean Peterson added 10 points each for Georgia Southern. Peterson had 17 assists and Bennett had nine of the Eagles' 60 rebounds.

The Catamounts (10-8, 4-3) had just two players in double figures, Kevin Martin with 12 and Corey Largent with 11.

Georgia Southern led by at least 20 points for most of the second half. The closest Western Carolina got was 17 on a jumper by Martin halfway through the period.

The Catamounts will resume SoCon action on Saturday when they play at Davidson. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
