May 29, 2007

Cullowhee, N.C. - After securing its second at-large bid in program history on Monday afternoon, the Western Carolina baseball team will be the in-studio guest on a special edition of "In the Litterbox" Tuesday night on WWCU, Power 90dot5. The NCAA Baseball Championship edition of "ITL" will air from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm TONIGHT (Tuesday) from the studio of WWCU.

Fans can listen to the program throughout Western North Carolina on the air at WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5, or online at www.WWCUFM.com. Tune in at 6:00 pm with special host Daniel Hooker and guest co-host Steve White, who will also again team for this week's game broadcast.

The only 40-win team in the Southern Conference this season, Western (40-18) will face the second-seeded East Carolina Pirates at 2:00 pm on Friday afternoon at UNC-Chapel Hill's Boshamer Stadium. WWCU, in association with the Catamount Sports Network, is scheduled to carry each game Western plays in during the '07 NCAA Baseball Championship regionals.

"ITL" is a weekly interactive sports talk show that highlights Western Carolina Catamount athletics. Each week includes recaps of WCU current events, as well as in-studio interviews with Catamount personalities. The show is generally hosted by WCU junior, Josh Thompson, of Lincolnton, N.C., with assistance from co-host, Daniel Hooker, and produced by station student general manager, Kyle McCurry.

WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 continues to serve as the Flagship Station of Catamount Athletics this season, broadcasting Catamount football, men's and women's basketball, and Catamount baseball, in addition to select Catamount softball broadcasts. WWCU has also been a partner with WCU Athletics in broadcasting the SoCon Women's Soccer Championship and NCAA tournament appearance, as well as the first-ever Catamount Softball games last season, continuing with both the softball and baseball SoCon tournaments.
