Cougar Tennis Signs Jessica Gomez Velazquez

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State Cougar tennis program signed Jessica Gomez Velazquez to a National Letter of Intent for the 2007-08 season, WSU Head Coach Lisa Hart announce today.

Velazquez, a Monterrey, Mexico native, capped this past season by winning the sectional, regional and state titles in Monterrey. Her junior accomplishments include a top 10 ranking in her age group and participating in the Mexican Olympics. At the age of 14 she captured the title at a national event in Guadalajara City, followed by a finalist and semifinalist showing in her next two national events. She has also traveled to Spain where she captured two local tournament titles in Barcelona.

"We are thrilled that Jessica has decided to join our program," said Hart. "She is a hard worked and is dedicated to doing all of the things she needs to do to be the very best student and athlete she can be."

Velazquez will enroll at WSU for the 2007 fall semester.
