Volleyball To Face Clemson In First Round of ACC Tournament

Nov. 17, 2003

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- The Wake Forest volleyball team wrapped up its ACC regular season schedule with wins over North Carolina and NC State this weekend and will now head to Orlando, Florida for the 2003 ACC Volleyball Championship. The Demon Deacons finished the season with a 10-6 conference mark which earned them the third seed in the tournament. The Deacs will face sixth-seeded Clemson at 7:30 pm on Friday evening at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

Wake Forest took both matches from the Tigers during the regular season, including a 3-2 win in Winston-Salem on October 11 and a 3-1 victory on November 4 in Clemson. The Demon Deacons have not won a match in the ACC Tournament since the 1999 season when they swept Georgia Tech in the first round.

At 21-8 overall, Wake Forest has its most wins since head coach Valorie Baker's first season in 2000. That year, the Demon Deacons were 21-9 and also went 10-6 in the ACC, earning a number three seed in the tournament.
