GREENSBORO, N.C. - Two Demon Deacons were selected to this year's All-ACC team at the ACC Awards Banquet. Senior outside hitter Trina Maso de Moya was named to the first team and senior middle blocker Margaret Davidson was named to the second team.
Maso de Moya took home Player of the Year honors last year and this marks her third time she has been named to the first team. Maso de Moya was named to the All-ACC Freshman team after an outstanding rookie season.
She will leave Wake setting new career records in kills, attempts, kills per game, service aces and digs per game. Maso de Moya leads the team in kills, posting 3.99 per game, and in digs, posting 4.30 per game. She leads the ACC in digs (4.30 pg) and is second in service aces with 0.57 per game and has accumulated 1,809 career kills and 1,960 career digs.
This will be Davidson's third year named to the second team. She was named to the All-ACC Freshman team after her first year as a Demon Deacon.
Davidson owns Wake's individual career records for total blocks per game and block assists and is four shy of taking the block solo record of 87. She leads the team with a .353 hitting percentage and 1.11 blocks per game. Davidson finishes the season third in the ACC with a .353 hitting percentage and has accumulated 460 total career blocks and a .316 career hitting percentage.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets head up the 2001 All-ACC team with five highlighted athletes, while ACC regular season champion Duke and runner-up North Carolina each name three to the team, as selected by the league's nine head coaches. Clemson and Maryland had two selections each followed by Florida State, NC State and Virginia with one apiece.
Georgia Tech's Maja Pachale was tabbed as the ACC Player of the Year, while the Yellow Jacket freshman Lauren Sauer was selected the ACC Rookie of the Year. Duke head coach Jolene Nagel garnered ACC Coach of the Year recognition.
