ORLANDO, Fla. - The No. 2 seeded North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the No. 3 seeded Wake Forest Demon Deacons 15-3, 14-16, 15-12 and 15-11 to advance to tomorrow's ACC Volleyball Championship match at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL. This will be the second consecutive year that the Tar Heels will compete in the championship match. Last season North Carolina dropped a 3-0 decision to Florida State in the title match.

Leading the Tar Heels on the night was All-ACC freshman team member Laura Greene. Greene recorded a team-high 17 kills and 21 digs in the match and finished with a .286 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Eve Rackham tallied 53 assists, nine digs and four blocks on the match in the UNC victory.

Wake Forest was led by Margaret Davidson's 15 kills, five blocks and .394 hitting percentage, as well as freshman setter Ashlee Phillips' 44 assists, nine digs and three blocks.

With the win, North Carolina improves to 26-5 and will face the No. 1 seeded Clemson Tigers in the 3:30 p.m. championship match. Wake Forest drops to 25-9 with the loss.

Head Coach Joe Sagula

"I think this is a great win. When you lose a first team all-conference middle blocker in the middle of the match, it could have rattled us, but we stayed together. I am hurting for Shannon Smith, she was playing so well and is a big part of our success. I'm really proud of this team, and we'll be ready to battle tomorrow."

Head coach Mary Buczek

"Credit North Carolina, they came out and passed well and played defense. We had way too many unforced errors. They took us out of our game and played well to win the game."
