The Wake Forest volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of a nationally-ranked opponent,
falling to No. 23 Georgia Tech on Friday evening. The Yellow Jackets recorded a sweep, winning the three games by
scores of 30-17, 30-18, 30-24. The Demon Deacons fall to 13-16, 6-9 in ACC play. Georgia Tech improves to
27-5, 12-3 in the league.
Junior Sara Beth DeLisle (Huntsville, Ala.) paced the Deacon effort with a team-best 11 kills. DeLisle also had one
solo block in the match. Freshman setter Erin Borhart (Huntley, Ill.) recorded 21 assists, 10 digs, a block and was
second to DeLisle with eight kills. Freshman Valerie Rydberg (Lemont, Ill.) and sophomore Tawni Schulte (Manhattan
Beach, Calif.) each had a team-best 11 digs.
The Demon Deacons were overpowered in the hitting category by the potent Yellow Jackets, who posted a .387
hitting percentage to Wakeˇ¦s .153. Digs total s were nearly equal, with the Deacs tallying 48 to Georgia Techˇ¦s 52.
Wake Forest remains on the road, returning to action at 7:30 Saturday evening at Clemson. The match against the
Tigers will be the final regular-season contest, with the Deacs returning to Atlanta next weekend for the ACC
Tournament.
