Huntington, WV - Wake Forest junior outside hitter Trina Maso de Moya led the Deacons with 18 kills en route to a 3-0 (15-1, 15-9, 15-5) victory over UNC Wilmington in the Marshall Invitational Friday evening.

The Deacs allowed only one point in the first game and five in the third, stifling any offensive attack the Seahawks could muster. Wake registered 34 digs as a team defensively, and put pressure on UNC Wilmington's defense, recording 43 kills.

Maso de Moya led the Deacons with 18 kills. She also served up two aces. Junior middle blocker Margaret Davidson added seven kills and a match-high .600 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Ashlee Phillips assisted on a match-high 37 balls. Four freshmen saw action in the lopsided win.

For the Seahawks, Angela Bodner tallied 10 kills, while setter Holly Abbuhl led the squad with five defensive digs and 21 assists.

The Deacons improve to 4-0 on the season and will face Wright State at 11:00 am and Marshall at 7:00 pm on Saturday. Wake hosts High Point in the team's next home match on September 12. The match is slated for 7:00 pm.
