Winston-Salem, N.C. - Incoming Demon Deacons Mandy McBean and Jeremy Fisico earned spots to compete in the Pan Am Junior Championships by qualifying at the Canadian Junior National Championships. The two join current Wake Forest rising sophomore Michael Bingham in the Championships.
McBean, a middle distance runner from Scarborough, Ontario, qualified with a second place finish in the 3000-meter race. McBean finished with a time of 9:31 which shattered her previous personal record by 16 seconds.
Fisico, a middle distance runner from Windsor, Ontario, qualified for the 5000 meters. Fisico finished with a 14:46 time, good for fourth place.
Both McBean and Fisico will join current Deacon decathlete Bingham at the Pan Am Junior Championships in Windsor, Ontario. Bingham qualified for the championship through his victory in the USATF Outdoor Championship in June. McBean and Fisico will compete on July 29. Bingham will compete in the two-day decathlon July 29-30.
