Brent LaRue in Second Place At 2006 USA Junior Championships After Six Decathlon Events

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Wake Forest freshman Brent LaRue sits in second place in the decathlon through six events at the 2006 Finish Line USA Junior Track and Field Championships at the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium.

Also competing in the championship meet, freshman Carly Mauch placed 13th in the javelin with a throw of 36.60 meters. Phillip Warsaw ran the 400 meters hurdles in a time of 54:22 and placed 11th.

LaRue finished the first five events with 3,809 points, including first-place finishes in the 100 meter dash and the 400 meters. Opening the second day of competition, LaRue finished second in the 110 meter hurdles, which puts him just 41 points behind the leader, Steven Schmidt of the Texas Express Track and Field Club.

The top-two finishers in each event at the championship meet will qualify for the 2006 World Junior Championships in Beijing, China.
