WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 27th-ranked Florida State Seminoles edged the No. 14-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 4-3, on Sunday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla. After Florida State stole the doubles point and led 3-2, Wake Forest evened the score at 3-all, but fell as the home team took the final singles match for the victory.

Florida State (9-3, 2-1) grabbed the first doubles victory at No. 3 where Miranda Foley and Jessica Wente defeated Sierra Poske and Christine Simpson 8-5. At the second spot, Wake's Ana Jerman and Sasha Kulikova battled to defeat Lauren Macfarlane and Tapiwa Marobela Wake 9-8, winning 7-4 in the tiebreaker.

After the No. 23 Seminole duo of Nicola Slater and Carolin Walter led 7-3 at court one, Alexandra Hirsch and Ashlee Davis fought back to force the match to a tiebreaker. In the end, the home team came out on top winning 7-5 in the tiebreaker to clinch the doubles point.

Wake Forest (6-3, 1-2) captured two straight wins in singles at No. 1 and No. 6 to take the 2-1 lead. No. 58 Hirsch easily defeated No. 98 Slater in straight 6-1 sets, while Kulikova put away Wente 6-2, 6-1. The lead went back in the Seminole's favor as No. 82 Ania Rynarzewska defeated No. 101 Christian Tara 7-5, 6-4 and Walter defeated Jerman 6-3, 6-2.

Down 4-1 in the first set, Poske came from behind to defeat Marobela 7-6, 6-0 to keep the Deacs in the match, but No. 62 Macfarlane defeated No. 100 Davis in three sets to clinch the match for the Seminoles.

Wake Forest returns home to open a three-match home stand against N.C. State on Friday . First serve is slated for 2:30 p.m.
