No. 12 William & Mary Rallies Past Wake Forest, 5-2

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 42nd-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team lost 5-2 to No. 12 William & Mary Sunday afternoon at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center. The Demon Deacons won two of three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead, but were unable to hold off the Tribe in singles play, dropping five of six matches for the 5-2 loss.

Danielle Schwartz led the Demon Deacon effort with wins at both singles and doubles. She teamed with Katie Martzolf to hand William & Mary's Wei and Muth 8-6 loss at No. 2 and then rallied past Kate Boomershine 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for WFU's only singles victory. Wake Forest's Karin Coetzee and Aimee Smith came up with a big upset win at No. 1 doubles, with a 8-4 victory over the Tribe's 18th-ranked tandem of Boomershine and Candice Fuchs.

Wake Forest falls to 1-7 with the loss and William & Mary improves to 8-3 with the win. The Demon Deacons return to action on Thursday, Feb. 27, when they host No. 34 Michigan at 2:00 p.m. in the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
