Winston-Salem, NC - The Washington Freedom of the WUSA added Wake Forest Womenˇ¦s Soccer player Sarah Kate Noftsinger to its roster during the last week of June. Noftsinger becomes the first female athlete from Wake Forest University drafted to play professionally. Noftsinger was initially drafted by the Maryland Pride, a United Soccer League amateur team in May before signing with the Freedom. She joins her new teammates in Washington, D.C., including the world-renowned Mia Hamm.

During her four years as a Demon Deacon midfielder, Noftsinger contributed 12 goals and 13 assists. She was named second team All-ACC during her final season and led the team with four assists. Noftsinger moved into fourth place in school history with 81 career games and fifth all-time with career games started.
