Wake Forest Downs UNC Greensboro, 3-1, In Women's Soccer

GREENSBORO, NC - Wake Forest scored twice in the first half, en route to a 3-1 victory over UNC Greensboro, in women's college soccer action, Friday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

Freshman Taylor Toombs got the Deacons on the board first at the 32:48 mark when she broke away from the Spartan defense and from 15 yards away chipped it over the head of the UNCG goalkeeper.

Wake Forest (5-1-1) would score again less than three minutes later on a goal by sophomore Sarah Kozey off an assist by Melanie Schneider at the 35:06 mark.

The Deacs added an insurance goal at the 62:04 mark when freshman Eilzabeth Remy headed in a goal off assists from A.B. Robbins and Toombs.

UNCG (2-3-2) got its only goal of the match at the 69:05 mark when sophomore Dacia Beachum headed in a cross from Cheryl Stewart.

UNCG will next take on The Citadel on Wednesday, September 24 at 7 p.m., at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. Wake Forest will move on to face California Friday, September 26 in Colorado Springs, CO.
