ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The No. 12 Wake Forest women's golf team is set to begin play at the 2007 Margaret Moses Branch NCAA Fall Preview beginning today, Sept. 24, until Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the UNM Championship Golf Course (6,069 yards; par 73).
The 54-hole event is the only chance for teams outside the Mountain West Conference to play the course before the NCAA Championships on May 20-23.
The tournament field will feature nine of the top 10 including No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Arizona State, No. 3 Duke, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 6 Arizona, No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 USC, No. 9 Georgia and No. 10 Purdue. The field will also include No. 20 Louisville, UNLV, TCU, BYU, Pepperdine, No. 14 Stanford, Vanderbilt and host New Mexico.
The Demon Deacon team of five will include senior Laura Crawford, junior Nannette Hill, sophomore Dolores White and freshmen Natalie Sheary and Allie Bodemann, who will make her first collegiate appearance in the Wake line-up.
White led the Deacs last week at the Mason Rudolph Championship and hit a career low 69 in the first round of play.
Tee times run from 8-9:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Live results can be followed at golfstat.com.
The University of New Mexico is hosting the 2008 NCAA Championships next May 20-23. UNM previously hosted the women's championships in 1987 and the men's championships in 1976, 1992 and 1998.
