WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 11 Wake Forest placed three golfers in the top five to lead the field after one round at the Bryan National Collegiate March 24 in Brown Summit, NC.

The Demon Deacons' Marta Prieto shot an even-par 72 to lead the field, while teammates Kelly Kirwin and Kathryn Brenny were tied with UNC Chapel Hill's Marcy Newton and William & Mary's Lindsey Sims for second with a 73.

Tournament co-host Wake Forest shot a 295, eight strokes ahead of No. 20 New Mexico and No. 35 Ohio State, tied second at 303. No. 25 Mississippi State and No. 26 UNC Chapel Hill are just one stroke behind, tied fifth at 304, while Florida State and No. 22 Indiana tied sixth with a 305. Tournament co-host UNCG is 13th with a 321.

The second round begins March 25 at 8:30 am, while the final March 26 will be an 8:30 am shotgun start.
