ATHENS, Ga. - The Wake Forest women's golf team sits in a two-way tie for seventh place out of 18 teams after the first day of competition in the 30th Annual Liz Murphey Collegiate hosted by the University of Georgia. The 16th-ranked Deacons shot 23-over par, ahead of No. 25 North Carolina who is tied for ninth place.

Katie Brenny is guiding the Deacs with her senior leadership, finishing round one in a 10-way tie for 10th place. The senior from Little Falls, Minn. shot three-over par with a score of 75. Fifteenth-ranked junior Nuria Clau is in a six-way tie for 31st place, shooting six-over par (78).

Junior Maria Beautell and sophomore Deb Means are in a 10-way tie for 37th place, both shooting seven-over par (79). Freshman Ashley Hoagland shot 10-over par for a seven-way tie of 64th place (82).

Round two begins tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
