Winston-Salem, NC - Two members of the fourth-ranked Wake Forest field
hockey team have been named to the 2000 Division I NFHCA National
Academic Squad as announced today.
Senior forward Jenny Everett collected national honors for the third
consecutive season, having earned the distinction in 1998 and 1999 as
well. During her career, Everett broke seven Wake Forest field hockey
records and led the team with 20 goals and 20 assists in the 2000
season. She was named first team All-American for the second straight
year and was also selected to the South Region All-American team for the
third consecutive season. Additionally, Everett was picked to the
All-ACC squad for the second straight year. Everett concludes her
career with 76 goals and 34 assists for a school record 186 points.
Junior midfielder Katie Kubic is the second Deacon to earn a spot on the
National Academic Squad this season. Kubic, who was also selected to
the squad a year ago, played in 20 of the 22 Wake Forest games in 2000
and was a starter in 19 of those games. She has started 60 of 61 games
played during her career thus far and has scored seven points on two
goals and three assists.
The Demon Deacon field hockey team finished its season with an 18-4
overall record and a 3-1 conference mark. The Deacs wrapped up one of
their most successful seasons as a national semifinalist, falling 6-0 to
national champion Old Dominion in the 2000 NCAA Championships.
