CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team is shipping out to Boston to take on the Boston College Eagles on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Eagles (14-5, 2-2) recently were bounced by No. 3 North Carolina 87-59 in Chapel Hill. The Demon Deacons (12-7, 0-5) also dropped a road contest, falling 80-54 to Florida State in Tallahassee.
Christen Brown set a career record with a perfect 4-4 3-point shooting mark in the FSU loss. Her former record of 75 percent (3-4) was also set against the Seminoles on February 25, 2007.
Sunday's meeting is only the third time the Deacons and Eagles have faced off on the hardwood. Last season, Boston College defeated Wake Forest 56-42 in Winston-Salem. BC's then-freshman Mickel Picco had the game high 25 points and BC's Ayla Brown led both teams on the glass with 14 rebounds.
The Demon Deacons out-scored the Eagles in fastbreak points (8-2), second chance points (8-10) and had fewer turnovers (15-11), but lost the lead for the final time with nine minutes in the first half. Corinne Groves tied the game for the seventh and final time in the opening seconds of the second half (24-24), but BC regained the lead and held it for the remainder of the contest.
Wake Forest will break from ACC action following Sunday's contest and will get ready to host Savannah State on Thursday, January 24 at 7 p.m.
