Men's Cross Country Captures Fourth At Great American Festival

Raleigh, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's cross country team finished fourth at the Great American Cross Country Festival race in Raleigh on Saturday. The Deacons competed in the 8k Run CC Nike ROC.

Senior Shane Ahlers paced the Deacons with a time of 24:44.60, good for 19th place. Fellow senior Sean Stevens finished one spot behind running a time of 24:46.70.

Senior Brandon Bartholomew placed 22nd for the Deacs running a time of 24.55.70. Freshman Mark Russell ran a time of 25:35.70 and finished in 39th place. Freshman Jeremy Fisico finished in 40th with a time of 25:36.40.

Senior Joel Conn placed 58th with a time of 25:59.00. Ottie Ray Kerley placed in a tie for 88th overall with a time of 26:55.90.

William and Mary won the overall event with 48 points. Virginia placed second with 60 and Abilene Christian finished third with 83. The Deacons tallied 138 points to place fourth in the 12-team field.
