Wake Forest track and field hosts two meets during the second weekend of the outdoor season. Action begins Thursday at 11 a.m. in Kentner Stadium, with the heptathlon events. Decathlon events will also take place on Thursday. Friday's schedule features the remaining heptathlon and decathlon events in the morning, followed by the Wake Forest Open field events at 4 p.m. and some distance races at 6 p.m. Competition continues on Saturday at 10 a.m., with the remaining field events for the Open and all sprinting events as well.

Teams competing this weekend include Akron, Binghamton, Bucknell, Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Indiana University-Pennsylvania, James Madison, Slippery Rock, Wheeling Jesuit and several unattached athletes.

The Deacons recorded two regional qualifying times last weekend in the season opener and inaugural meet on the newly renovated Kentner Stadium. Lindsay Neuberger set a school record in the hammer throw, while Michelle Sikes shattered the track record by nearly two minutes in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Sikes set a regional qualifying mark in that event. She will be joined at regionals by Mike Loyd, whose 14.24 in the 110 meter hurdles qualified him for postseason action.

Several Deacons are traveling to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Cardinal Invitational, March 25-26. Among them are Annie Bersagel, Erin Franklin, Caitlin Chrisman, Michelle Sikes, Brad Wharton, Chris Catton, Brian Smith, Sean Stevens and Shane Ahlers.
