Wake Forest begins the 2005 outdoor track season with a home opener on March 19. Participating schools in the Wake Forest Open include Davidson, Furman, Lees-McCrae College, UNC-Greensboro, Virginia Tech, and Western Carolina. Several unattached athletes will be competing as well. The Wake Forest Open marks the first meet held on the newly renovated Kentner Stadium track surface.

The Deacons completed the indoor season with a seventh place finish by both the men and women at the ACC Championship. Although several Deacons posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks throughout the season, only Annie Bersagel competed at the NCAA Championship last weekend. The Greeley, Colo. native captured her sixth All-American honor, finishing third in the 5,000 meter race and crushing the Wake Forest record in that event.

Saturday's events kick off at 10 am with the women's hammer throw, the men's and women's long jump, the men's shot put and the women's pole vault. The meet concludes with the 4:15 pm 1,600 meter relays.

Complete results will be posted at WakeForestSports.com no more than thirty minutes after the conclusion of the 1,600 meter relay.
