CHAPEL HILL, NC - Mike Altieri, a junior middle distance runner on the Wake Forest men's track & field team took second place in the 800m at the North Carolina Last Chance Meet Wednesday. Altieri, who has only run the Mile for the Demon Deacons this season, tried the 800m Wednesday for the first time in two years. The Sacramento, CA native ran the 800m in 1:52.23, the third best time in the conference this indoor season.

Wake Forest will try to qualify some more individuals for the NCAA Indoor Championships as Chris Estwanik will compete in the 3,000m at the Notre Dame Last Chance Meet on Saturday in South Bend, IN, while Nikeya Green will run the 800m and Carol Merritt will race in the 200m on Saturday at the USA Indoor Championships in New York, NY. The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the University of Arkansas, Mar. 8-9 in Fayetteville, AR.
