Track Travels to the Big Apple for New Balance Collegiate Invitational

Feb. 1, 2007

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -

The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams will head to New York, N.Y., to participate in the seventh-annual New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The two-day meet at the Armory Track and Field Center begins at 11 a.m. on Friday and continues at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday. Over 100 teams will be represented over the weekend, including nine women's teams and seven men's from the Trackwire top 25.  Live coverage will be available at www.trackshark.com starting on Saturday morning.

The Deacs are coming off successful trips to the JRF Multi-Event Challenge and On Track Open last weekend.  Highlighting the multi-event meet was a first-place finish in the heptathlon by sophomore Brent LaRue.  The native of Kernersville, N.C., won the event with a provisionally-qualifying score of 5,480 points.

Next up for the Deacons will be the Carolina Classic, a one-day meet in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Friday, Feb. 9.
