ATLANTA - The Wake Forest men's and women's track & field teams were in action Thursday-Saturday at the Georgia Tech Last Chance Invitational in a final effort to qualify any individuals for the NCAA Championships. Nikeya Green, a sophomore middle distance runner on the women's squad, was the third collegian to cross the finish line in the 800m. Green's time of 2:04.96, an improvement of almost two entire seconds from her previous personal record set last weekend, breaks a nine-year-old school record and automatically qualifies Green for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She earned All-American honors in the indoor 800m earlier this spring at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Anne Bersagel won the 5,000m with a time of 16:50.22. Shauna Danos ran a 2:11.80 and Tess Fath posted a 2:17.97 in the 800m, both personal records. Kara Mullin (4:30.10), Danielle Coon (4:41.98) and Adralyn Wendel (4:43.89) all set personal records in the 1,500m. Jamie Grayzer had the fourth-best collegiate score in the heptathlon with a 4778.

On the men's side, Paul Singleton ran a season-best 1:54.11 in the 800m. Mike Altieri led the four Deacons running the 1,500m with a 3:50.02. Chris Estwanik (3:56.89), Jimmy Butler (4:00.59) and Nathan Sisco (4:02.99) all followed. Alan Susi took 17th place in the javelin throw with a mark of 175-5.

Green will compete in the 800m at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by LSU, May 28-June 1 in Baton Rouge, LA. Complete results from the Georgia Tech Last Chance Invitational are available at deltatiming.com.
