Eugene, Oregon - The Wake Forest men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed on Saturday at the Oregon Invitational at Haywood Field. The Demon Deacons were led by Cassy Richards, who captured first place in the 100M with a season's best 12.20 and first in the Long Jump with a mark of 19-6.25.

During the day session, Jill Kovalcik ran a 25.58 in the 200M for eighth place and Detra Chambers finished 15th with a time of 26.65. Rachel Mistur came in seventh in the 5,000M with a time of 18:04.81, followed by Denise Hefferin in eighth with a time of 18:06.72. Jackie Muscente placed eighth in the 400M Hurdles with a 1:05.72 and Elizabeth Washam took fifth in the Pole Vault with a mark of 10-11.75. Lindsay Neuberger threw a 48-3.25 for second place in the Shot Put, while Jen Leesman finished 13th with a throw of 39-3.75. Josh Gattis came in 13th in the 100M with a time of 11.18 and Willie Idlette ran a 21.97 for fifth in the 200M. In the 400M, Eric Seely captured third with a time of 48.53 and Mike Brown finished 12th with a 51.70. Westin Galloway placed 20th in the 800M, while in the 1,500M, Brian Smith took 13th with a 3:58.06 and Jimmy Butler came in 15th with a 3:59.19. Sean Stevens placed 10th in the 5,000M with a time of 14:50.53 and Michael Eskind finished eighth in the Pole Vault with a mark of 14-7.25. Dave Barrett came in 15th in the 3,000M Steeplechase with a time of 9:53.91 and Chris Elder finished in 16th with a 9:56.11. Eskind also jumped a 21-5.25 in the Long Jump for 13th and Luke Orman placed 13th with a mark of 20-10. Tom Tymann took seventh in the Shot Put and 17th in the Discus, while Josh Carter had a mark of 44-4.25 in the Shot Put for 13th place.

In the twilight session, Anna Sherman improved her regional qualifying time in the 1,500M to 4:19.77, Nikeya Green also improved her time to 4:26.53 in the 1,500M and Anne Bersagel regionally qualified in the 1,500M with a time of 4:27.96. Courtney Lancashire also ran in the 1,500M and finished in 16th. Shauna Danos came in eighth in the 800M with a time of 2:12.64. Kara Mullin took third in the 3,000M Steeplechase with a regional qualifying time of 10:42.39 and Catherine Fortin-Major took seventh with a time of 10:55.73. Risa Rutland placed 15th in the 5,000M and Erin Franklin came in 20th. Jill Kovalcik jumped a 15-9.75 in the Long Jump for 13th. Paul Singleton finished fifth in the 800M with a time of 1:52.65. Mike Altieri took third in the 1,500M and Brad Wharton finished 11th. Josh Gattis ran a 14.87 in the 100M Hurdles for fifth place and Mike Hauck threw a 179-08 in the Javelin for 14th. The men's 4 x 100M Relay team came in sixth, while the 4 x 400M squad took fourth.
