Durham, N.C. - The Florida State women's track team and the Clemson men's team
both captured the ACC Conference Meet Championship on Saturday, April 22,
2000, at Duke University. The Wake Forest women's team finished in eighth
place with 54 points, while the men's team finished in sixth with 81 points.
For the Lady Deacs, senior Jill Snyder captured the conference title in the
1500-meter run with a time of 4:25.31 and fifth in the 800 with a time of
2:08.95. Senior Janelle Kraus also won the conference title in the
5000-meter run with a time of 16:24.90. Junior Summer Shaw took second
place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.52, while junior Sara Day
came in fourth in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:50.62.
On the men's side, junior John Stone captured second place in both the
100-meter dash in 10.69, and in the 200 meter with a time of 21.19.
Sophomores Chris Estwanik and Michael Altieri finished third and fourth
respectively in the 1500 with times of 3:46.13 and 3:46.46, while fellow
sophomore Cliff Neal finished in fourth place in the hammer throw with a
mark of 186'02". The men's 4x100 meter relay team finished second with a
time of 41.05.
The men and women's teams will next compete in the Penn Relays on April
26-30 in Philadelphia, PA.
