CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Ted DeVos and Alan Susi earned All-ACC honors for the Wake Forest men's track & field team in the first day of the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday at the University of Virginia. DeVos finished third in the 10,000m with a time of 31:04.09. Susi placed third in the javelin throw with a mark of 202-9. John Stone ran a 10.53 in the 100m preliminaries to qualify for the finals. Nathan Sisco ran a 1:52.12 in the 800m preliminaries to qualify for the finals. Chris Estwanik (3:54.49), Sisco (3:52.70) and Mike Altieri (3:55.15) all qualified for the 1,500m finals. Altieri finished fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:16.72, Dave Barrett took 11th place in 9:41.91 and Brian Smith came in 13th with a 9:47.47. Philip Wiles ran a 32:28.17 to take 14th in the 10,000m. Luke Orman placed 11th in the long jump with a mark of 22-9.75 and Fabian Davis came in 13th with a leap of 22-4.5. Susi finished 15th in the discus throw with a toss of 147-9.

On the women's side, Carol Merritt qualified for the 400m finals with a school record-breaking time of 54.71 in the preliminaries. Nikeya Green (2:09.88) and Adralyn Wendel (2:11.78) both qualified for the 800m finals. Anne Bersagel (4:29.97) and Tess Fath (4:33.90) both qualified for the 1,500m finals. Jackie Muscente qualified for the 400m hurdles finals with a time of 1:04.56 in the preliminaries. Jill Kovalcik broke the school record in the pole vault with a mark of 11-3.75, taking ninth place. Sandra Jenkins took eighth place in the discus throw with a personal record of 137-4. Jamie Grayzer placed eighth in the javelin throw with a mark of 109-8. Risa Rutland finished ninth in the 10,000m with a time of 36:53.73. Kara Mullin took ninth place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:25.80. Liz Washam cleared 10-10 in the pole vault to finish 11th. Cassy Richards placed 15th in the long jump with a mark of 18-7.25.

The Demon Deacon me sit in seventh place at the halfway mark of the meet and women are in ninth. The ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will conclude Saturday. Complete results are available at theacc.com.
