DURHAM, NC - A majority of the Wake Forest men's and women's track & field teams were in action this weekend at the Duke Invitational and the multi-eventers competed at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, VA. While none of the Demon Deacons qualified over the weekend or broke any records, several breakout performances highlighted the individual achievements as eight personal records fell for Wake Forest.

Wake Forest won the women's distance medley relay with a time of 11:33.34. Risa Rutland and Danielle Coon both set personal records in the 3,000m. Rutland ran a 9:52.90 and Coon finished in 9:56.57. Brandon Bartholomew ran a personal best time of 14:58.11 in the 5,000m. Adralyn Wendel and Shauna Danos both set new personal records in the 800m. Wendel ran a 2:12.62 and Danos finished in 2:13.64. Mike Altieri finished 5th in the mile with a time of 3:49.12. Catherine Fortin-Major set a personal record in the 1,500m with a time of 4:45.03 and Kara Mullin ran a season-best time of 4:39.28 in the 1,500m. Sandra Jenkins reached a personal best mark of 132-8 in the discus throw and Tom Tymann set a personal record in the shot put with a mark of 51-7.

Jill Kovalcik, Jamie Grayzer and Rachel Burns all set personal records in the heptathlon at Liberty. Grayzer was the runner-up with a score of 4641, Kovalcik placed fourth with a score of 4350 and Burns took fifth with 4314. Michael Eskind finished sixth in the decathlon with a score of 5132 and Michael Piscetelli placed seventh with 4869.
