The Wake Forest University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams
were in action over the weekend all over the map. Several Demon Deacons
competed in the Florida Relays in Gainesville, FL, while a couple others
went to the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, CA and a few more
competed in the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, NC.
At the Stanford Invitational, Sara Day ran an automatically qualifying
time of 33:30.23 in the 10,000-Meter Run, breaking the school record.
Courtney Lancashire ran the best 5,000-Meter time of the season for the
Demon Deacons, finishing in 17:45.64. Ted DeVos and Garick Hill competed
in the Men's 10,000-Meter Run and finished 41st and 48th respectively
with times of 29:46.09 and 29:56.90.
In the Raleigh Relays Risa Rutland and Britton Stackhouse ran the
10,000-Meter Run and finished 13th and 21st respectively with times of
37:14.94 and 38:10.50.
J.T. Kuretich broke the school record in the decathlon at the Florida
Relays, racking up 7,062 points. Jamie Grayzer took fourth place in the
heptathlon with 4,617 points. Josh Buffolino won the 1,500-Meter Run
with a time of 3:55.46. Luke Orman placed 12th in the Long Jump with a
leap of 20'5ä. Da'Vaughn Mellerson came in fifth place in the Discus
Throw with a toss of 146'1ä. Sandra Jenkins finished ninth in the
Women's Shot Put with a distance of 43'3 ¹ä and Tom Tymann took fourth
in the Men's, heaving 47'8 ¸ä. Patrick Ladapo tied for 20th place in the
100-Meter Dash, finishing in 11.25. Carol Merritt raced to a 24th place
finish in the Women's 400-Meter Run with a time of 58.29 and Ryan
Hamilton sprinted to a fourth place finish with a time of 48.28.
Branston Williams ran a 55.44 in the 400-Meter Hurdles, taking 13th
place. The Demon Deacon women's 4x1500-Meter Relay squad finished fourth
with a time of 20:11.27 and their Distance Medley Relay finished second
in 11:56.75.
Wake Forest will return to action April 6-7 when the men's team travels
to Durham, NC to compete in the Duke Invitational and the women's team
travels to Atlanta, GA to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational.
