CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Both the men's and women's track teams from Wake Forest are competing in the 49er Classic at UNC Charlotte this weekend.

After Friday's competition, on the men's side, John Stone was in first place in Heat 1 of the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.57 seconds. Reggie Austin was leading Heat 3 of the same event with a time of 10.30 seconds. Michael Altieri leads in the 1,500 meter run, finishing the course in 3:52.36, and Cliff Neal is currently in first place of the men's hammer throw at 52.79 meters.

In women's action, Kathleen Kunhert finished the day in third place in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:00.62 and Marissa Derlaga is in 12th in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:23.08. Val Waldron is in 13th place in the 1,500 meter run, finishing the course in 4:47.55.

The 49er Classic will continue on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
