Results
The Wake Forest indoor track teams pulled out solid performances in the first day of competition at the 2003 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships in the University of North Carolina's Eddie Smith Field House. The women's squad finished the first day in fifth place with 23 points, while the men sit at sixth with 8 points.
The men's Distance Medley Relay captured second place, earning All-ACC honors with a time of 10:00.63. The DMR team was made up of Nathan Sisco, Willie Idlette, Paul Singleton and Michael Altieri. The Wake Forest women placed fourth in the Distance Medley Relay, with a time of 11:55.47 and consisted of Adralyn Wendel, Nikeya Green, Shauna Danos and Erin Franklin.
In the women's 5,000M, Jill Miller took second place with a school record-breaking time of 16:21.85. Miller provisionally qualified for NCAA competition and received all-conference honors as well. Annie Bersagel also provisionally qualified in the 5,000M with a time of 16:39.00 for fifth place. Lindsay Neuberger was named an All-ACC selection for taking third in the Shot Put with a mark of 49-9.0, her best of the season. Elizabeth Washam cleared 10-11.75, tying for 13th in the Pole Vault and Jill Kovalcik took 18th in the High Jump with a mark of 4-11.75. In the men's 5,000M, Sean Stevens led the Deacs with a time of 14:51.51 for ninth place, Garick Hill came in 11th with a time of 14:52.15 and Brandon Bartholomew placed 11th with a time of 14:58.40. Josh Carter finished the Shot Put in 13th with a time of 41-10.5 and Fabian Davis came in 16th with a mark of 21-8.0 in the Long Jump.
Green qualified for the women's 800M finals, by taking first place with a time of 2:10.12. Wendel qualified as well in the women's 800M with a time of 2:13.97 for sixth place. Two Deacons qualified for the women's Mile finals, as Anna Sherman and Kara Mullin took fifth and ninth, respectively. Josh Gattis qualified for the men's 60M Hurdles finals by taking seventh with a time of 8.29. Seely qualified for the men's 200M with a time of 22.04 and in the 400M, taking seventh with a time of 49.38. Kevin Jones and Brad Wharton qualified in the men's Mile by finishing seventh and ninth, respectively.
Florida State leads the men with a team score of 45 and Georgia Tech leads the women with a team score of 39.5 after the first day of competition.
