Wake Forest Provisionally Qualifies in Women's DMR at Tyson Invite

The Wake Forest men's and women's indoor track & field teams had a productive weekend as the Demon Deacons were in action at various meets across the country.

Fayetteville, AK - The Wake Forest women's Distance Medley Relay team provisionally qualified for NCAA competiton Friday night at the Razorback Tyson Invitational, taking third place with a time of 11:35.50. Adralyn Wendel captured third in the unseeded 800m with a time of 2:12.48, while Jill Miller placed eighth in the Mile with a personal-best time of 4:59.62. In the 800m Invitational, Nikeya Green placed eighth with a time of 2:07.30 and former Demon Deacon Jill Snyder finished ninth with a time of 2:07.36.

Blacksburg, VA - The majority of the Demon Demons competed in the Virginia Tech Challenge on Friday and Saturday. Cassy Richards placed fifth in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.79m, 16th in the 200m with a time of 25.21 and 20th in the 60m with a time of 8.01. In the Mile, Erin Franklin captured seventh with a time of 5:05.68, Ashley Dunigan in 11th with a time of 5:11.73 and Molly Nunn in 14th with a time of 5:13.23. Jackie Muscente took sixth in the 500m with a 1:18.60. Denise Hefferin ran a personal-best time of 10:20.12 in the 3,000m for 13th, Rachel Mistur came in 18 with a 10:24.12 and Candy Hitchcock in 26th with a time of 10:45.45. In the 5,000m, Caitlin Dempsey also ran a personal-best time and captured seventh, while Elizabeth Hagood took 10th with a time of 19:01.88. Elizabeth Washam tied for 12th in the Pole Vault and Lindsay Neuberger finished third in the Shot Put.

For the men, senior Mike Altieri won the 1,000m with a time of 2:27.30, while Brad Wharton captured second place with a time of 2:29.59. Eric Seely took fourth in the 200m with a 21.89 and Willie Idelette placed 20th with a time of 22.42. Patrick Ladapo came in 10th in the 60m with a time of 6.98. Paul Singleton came in eighth in the 500m with a time of 1:05.72 and Mike Brown placed 14th with a time of 1:07.52, while Westin Galloway finished 20th in the 800m with a 1:58.53. Seven Deacs placed in the top-15 in the 3,000m as Garick Hill took second with a time of 8:20.20, Brain Smith in sixth with a time of 8:25.73, Sean Stevens in seventh with a time of 8:28.78, Brandon Barthlomew in eighth with a time of 8:32.08, Chris Elder in 10th with a time of 8:39.55, Kevin Jones in 12th with a 8:41.65 and Andrew Ice in 14th with a time of 8:44.29. Michael Eskind finished 23rd in the Pole Vault and Luke Orman tied for sixth in the Long Jump.
