Blacksburg, Va. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the indoor season opener on Saturday at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
Mike Loyd placed seventh in the 60 meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.27 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, Aaron Russell placed 11th running a time of 49.75 seconds, while Phillip Warsaw placed 24th overall with a time of 50.69 seconds.
In the 800 meter run, Westin Galloway placed 19th overall with a time of 2:00.14. In the women's 200 meter dash, Melissa Council finished 13th in the finals with a time of 25.17.
On the men's side, Michael Bingham placed fourth overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.81. Willie Idlette finished ninth with a time of 22.02. Both Mike Loyd and Eric Seely ran a time of 22.10 which placed the two in a tie for 12th. Kerry Major tied for 24th in the 200 meter with a time of 22.44. Raymond Harbert, 23.88, and Frank Lawler, 24.71, also competed in the event.
In the men's 3000 meter finals, Brad Wharton, running unattached, placed 11th with a time of 8:43.97. Matt Owen placed 14th in the event with a time of 8:46.56.
Wake Forest's women's 4x400 team of Diane Anderson, Melissa Council, Lauren Henn and Molly Kennedy placed 14th in the event with a time of 4:04.25.
In the men's 4x400, the Demon Deacon `A' team consisting of Michael Bingham, Eric Seely, Brent LaRue and Willie Idlette placed third with a time of 3:17.30. The `B' team, of Mike Loyd, Aaron Russell, Ben Ryan and Phillip Warsaw ran a time of 3:24.42 and finished in 14th place.
In the men's high jump, Brent LaRue recorded a jump of 1.90 meters placing him in a tie for 10th. In the women's long jump, Melissa Council tied for 12th with a jump of 5.63 meters.
Lindsay Neuberger placed second in the shot put by recording a toss of 15.50 meters. The distance marked another provisional qualifying distance for Neuberger.
In the men's shot put, Boomer Peterson placed fourth overall with a distance of 15.91 meters.
In Friday's action, in the women's 500 meter dash, Diane Anderson placed 13th overall running a time of 1:18.09. Lauren Henn placed 21st in the event with a time of 1:22.70.
In the men's 500 meter dash, Philip Warsaw placed fifth overall with a time of 1:05.56. Ben Renner placed 26th in the event running a time of 1:09.30.
Eric Seely placed second overall in the men's 300 meter dash with a time of 34.43. Willie Idlette placed 17th in the event with a time of 35.71. Midion Smith also competed in the event running a time of 36.53.
In the men's 1000 meter run, Westin Galloway tied for 31st with a time of 2:40.36.
Jill Aherns in the women's pole vault finals placed 16th with a jump of 3.20 meters. In the women's weight throw, Lindsay Neuberger placed 12th overall with a throw of 15.76 meters.
