Track and Field Wraps Up Day At Carolina Big 12 Meet

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- The Wake Forest men's and women's track teams completed their first indoor competition of the season Saturday at the Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina.

Kevin Jones took home the 3,000m title while fellow Deacon Brad Wharton finished first in the mile run with a time of 4:17.35. On the women's side, Molly Nunn ran the fastest mile of the meet with a time of 5:16.54 and Lindsay Neuberger won the shot put event with a distance of 14.86 m (48-09.00)

The Wake Forest women also got strong performances from Diane Anderson who qualified for the 60m dash finals and placed sixth with a time of 25.23. Hanna Bremler, Shauna Danos and Lara Johnson finished fifth, seventh, and eighth, respectively for the Deacs in the 800m. Neuberger also placed fifth in the weight throw while Jamie Grayzer finished in the top 20 in four different events.
 

 

The Demon Deacon men were also led by Eric Seely who placed third in the 200m and by Chris Catton who recorded a third-place finish in the 800m. Jesse Richert, Mike Loyd, Mike Piscetelli, and Adam Gabrault also collected top-ten finishes in their respective events.

The Deacs return to action next weekend when they travel to Lexington for the Kentucky Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
