Parr, Forman Advance to Doubles Semifinal of ITA Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Junior Cory Parr and sophomore Steven Forman showed a strong performance at the ITA/Wilson Mideast Regional Championships at the University of Virginia. In singles, Parr reached the quarterfinals, while Parr and Forman advanced to the semifinal in doubles.

In the round of 16, Parr defeated 9th-seeded Sanam Singh of Virginia 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinal round where he faced Virginia Tech's Albert Larregola, also seeded ninth. Parr took the first set 7-5, but fell in the second and third sets 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles, the Wake tandem defeated 16th-seeded Clay Donato and Stefan Hardy of North Carolina 8-4 to advance to the quarterfinal round. There, Parr and Forman handed NC State's Derek T. Stephens and Chris Welte an 8-3 defeat to move into the semifinals. Virginia's Singh and Michael Shabaz squeaked by with a 9-7 win to end the Deacon duo's run.
