Men's Tennis To Host #6 Duke Wednesday

April 5, 2006

The 26th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team hosts sixth-ranked Duke on Wednesday at Leighton Tennis Stadium at 3:00 p.m. Chad Skorupka and Jesse Medvene-Collins, Wake Forest women's tennis coaches, will sponsor a free cookout for spectactors, including hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Wake Forest has won its last four matches and six of its last seven. The Deacons own a 13-5 overall record and second place in the ACC with a 5-1 mark. Duke is 12-5 and 4-1, currently residing in third place in the conference.

The marquee matchup of the day will be at No. 1 singles where Wake Forest junior Todd Paul (24-7) is ranked No. 13 nationally. He is slated to face Duke's, Ludovic Walter (22-9) who is ranked fourth in the country. Walter defeated Paul last April in the only meeting between the two All-America candidates.

Last season, Jeff Zinn's Demon Deacons shocked Duke in Durham, upsetting the fourth-ranked Blue Devils, 6-1.
