Derrick Spice, a freshman on the Wake Forest men's tennis team, shares the ACC Player of the Week honor this week with Duke's Jason Zimmerman. Spice went undefeated last week in both singles and doubles, leading the 22nd-ranked Demon Deacons to a pair of ACC road wins, defeating Virginia 6-1 on Saturday and blanking Maryland 7-0 on Sunday. Spice, playing in the No. 3 position in singles, beat Virginia's Stephen Nolen 6-3, 6-2 and Maryland's Troy Demers 7-6, 6-3. He teamed up with Mike Murray (Jr., St. Petersburg, FL) to defeat Virginia's No. 2 pair of Jonathan Chou and Jason Romesburg 8-1 and then dismantled Maryland's No. 2 pair, Troy Demers and David Reichsfeld 8-3. Spice, an Olmsted, OH native, has already tied the school's single season record with 30 singles victory this season.

This is the third Demon Deacon to earn ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors this season and the second in a row.

Wake Forest plays host to No. 55 Brown at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 and No. 14 Duke at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 at Leighton Stadium.
