Men's Tennis Claims the 27th Spot in the ITA Poll

Feb. 22, 2005

Princeton, N.J. - After upholding their undefeated 6-0 record against Brown University last Sunday, the Wake Forest men's tennis team has moved up one spot to No. 27 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, which the organization announced on Tuesday. Wake Forest was ranked 28th in last week's poll.

The Deacs' perfect season record, along with wins over 14th-ranked VCU and 31st-ranked Minnesota, attributes to their success and rise in the ITA poll. Wake Forest has also taken out East Tennessee State, Old Dominion, and William and Mary this season.

Nine other ACC teams join Wake Forest in the top-75 national rankings: Virginia (2nd), Duke (6th), North Carolina (25th), Florida State (32nd), Clemson (35th), Georgia Tech (47th), Miami (53rd), NC State (58th), and Virginia Tech (63rd).

According to the ITA men's singles poll, Andrew Hamar, Todd Paul, and Brett Ross represent the Demon Deacons in the top-100 singles players. Hamar currently holds the 70th spot, with Paul following at No. 71. Ross claims the 77th spot in this week's poll.

Wake Forest travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma in order to defend their perfect record this Saturday against 52nd-ranked Tulsa. The match begins at 6:00pm.
