Parr Named ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Cory Parr was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week by the league office on Monday.

The native of Jericho, N.Y., posted a 3-0 singles record this past weekend as the Deacons defeated 55th-ranked Old Dominion, Elon and William & Mary. The Deacons improved their season record to 5-0 with the wins.

Parr's victories came in the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 flights. His most notable win came against Old Dominion at No. 2 against 18th-ranked Henrique Cancado, 7-6, 6-3. Against Elon, Parr played in the number one position and defeated Damon Gooch, 6-3, 6-4. On Friday, he played No. 3 and knocked off William & Mary's Marwan Ramadan, 6-2, 6-2.

Parr improved his spring record to 5-0 and his overall season mark to 14-2.

The Demon Deacons return to the court for three matches this weekend against three nationally-ranked opponents. Wake Forest will host 12th-ranked VCU on Friday and face both 32nd-ranked Minnesota and 46th-ranked East Tennessee on Sunday.
