CHAPEL HILL, NC - Four of the Wake Forest men's tennis players began competition Wednesday in the first round of the ITA Region II Championships Qualifying Singles Draw. Justin Kaufmann, Derrick Spice, Trent Brendon and Andrew Simpson all won their matches to advance to the Round of 32.

Kaufmann, a senior from Mission Hills, KS, came from behind to defeat Julien Crevelier from East Carolina 1-6, 6-2, 6-1. He will play Sander Koning from Clemson at 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Spice, a freshman from North Olmsted, OH, fought past Florida State's Rodrigo Laub 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3). He will face High Point's Robert Lindhe at 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

Brendon, a junior from Victorville, CA, cruised past Doug Ormsby of Appalachian State in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-4. He will take on Thomas Ibler of Hampton at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Simpson, a sophomore from Raleigh, NC, made quick work of Old Dominion's Niklas Oskarrsson, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. His next opponent will be Nathan Thompson from Clemson at 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
