Andrew Brasseaux and Charles Sartor led the Wake Forest men's tennis team with a second place finish in the A-1 doubles flight at the South Carolina Fall Invitational over the weekend.
The Demon Deacon tandem shutout the Citadel's Martin King and Yuto Sutantio 8-0 in the first round and followed with an 8-5 win over Pedro Campos and Ivan Cressoni of South Carolina. After breezing through the semifinals with an ETSU default, Badr Bouabdellah and Razvan Axente took down the Deacs in the final with an 8-5 win.
Wake's Carlos Salmon and Jon Wolff advanced to the A-2 doubles semifinals with an 8-5 win over opponents from USC-Aiken in the first round and an 8-6 win over Michael Nicol and Matt Martin of Presbyterian in the quarterfinals. Lander's Andre Ivarsson/Henrik Willers duo defeated the Deacons 8-6 in the semifinals.
In singles action, Jason Morgenstern advanced past the first round of A-1 singles with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Armstrong Atlantic State's Rafael Array, but fell to Mahmoud Hamed in the following round with a 6-1, 6-1 loss.
Charles Sartor advanced in B-1 singles, holding Wofford's Michael Schecter to one game through two sets (6-0, 6-1). Clemson's Kevin Galloway defeated Sartor in the next round, taking a 6-3, 6-2 win.
The Deacons will return to fall competition this weekend at the ITA Regionals in Charlottesville, Va.
