Men's Tennis Completes Play At Top of the Hill Classic

Oct. 5, 2003

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- - The Wake Forest men's tennis team wrapped up the third and final day of competition at the Top of the Hill Kickoff Classic on Sunday.

Freshman Todd Paul won his first three Flight A singles matches on Friday and Saturday and earned the right to play in Sunday's championship match. But North Carolina's Nicholas Monroe took down Paul in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, to claim the singles title.

Paul also teamed up with Andrew Simpson in the Flight A doubles championship where they were ousted by Monroe and partner Raian Luchichi, 8-3, giving the Tar Heels another win over Wake Forest. Earlier in the day, Simpson won his Flight B singles consolation match against Carolina's Jonathan Janda, 3-6, 6-0, 7-5.

Wake Forest returns to action on October 17th when they travel to Columbia for the USC Fall Invitational.
