Men's Tennis Finishes Day Two At Top of the Hill Classic

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- - The Wake Forest men's tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition at the Top of the Hill Kickoff Classic on Saturday. The Demon Deacons were led by freshman Todd Paul who advanced to Sunday's Flight A singles and doubles championship matches.

In Flight A singles, Paul won a hard-fought match against Duke's Chris Brown in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Paul won the first set 6-3, dropped the second 5-7, and held on for a 7-5 victory in the third and final set. Paul then cruised through his semifinal match against Raian Luchichi of North Carolina, 6-2, 6-1. Paul will face UNC's Nicholas Monroe on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in the championship match. Paul and his doubles partner, Andrew Simpson advanced to the Flight A doubles final when Davidson's Rob Haywood and Donald Miles withdrew due to illness.

In Flight B singles, Simpson won a straight set match over NC State's Matt Simeon before losing to Geoff Boyd of North Carolina, 5-7, 3-6 in the semifinals. .

Also in Flight A singles, Joe Bates played two consolation matches, winning one and losing one.

The third and final day of action at the Top of the Hill Kickoff Classic gets underway Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
