Men's Tennis Successful On First Day of Top of the Hill Classic

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- The Wake Forest men's tennis team wrapped up a successful day of competition on Friday at the Top of the Hill Kickoff Classic in Chapel Hill. Todd Paul and Andrew Simpson both won their singles matches and also paired up in the doubles bracket where they advanced to Saturday's semifinals.

In Flight A singles, Paul breezed by Campbell's Jiri Beranele, 6-1, 6-2 in their round of 16 match on Friday. Also in Flight A, Adam Branks of UNC-Asheville defeated the Deacs' Joe Bates by a score of 6-3, 6-1.

In his Flight B singles match, Simpson had no trouble with Charlotte's Stuart Lynas, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

In their Flight A doubles match, Paul and Simpson advanced to Saturday's semifinals by defeating Devin Donn and Jeppy Moss of Richmond by a score of 9-7.

Day two of action at the Top of the Hill Kickoff Classic gets underway on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
