Cary, NC - The sixth-seeded Wake Forest men's tennis team rolled past 11th-seeded Maryland 4-0 on Thursday in the first round of the ACC Championships in Cary, N.C. The Deacons captured the team victory in just two hours and 25 minutes.

The Deacons (15-9) advance to play third-seeded Miami on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Last Friday, the Hurricanes defeated Wake Forest in Coral Gables in a tight 5-2 battle.

Head coach Jeff Zinn shook up his doubles lineup, putting Brett Ross and Charles Sartor at the number one spot for the first time this season. Ross and Sartor were 14-1 this season while splitting time at numbers two and three. They defeated Andy Orban and Scott Fink, 8-3. Moments later, Cory Parr and Todd Paul, playing together for the first time in their career, sealed the doubles point by defeated Josh Brauser and Boris Fetbroyt, 8-4.

In singles, the Deacons picked straight set victories from Paul, Andrew Hamar and Joe Bates to clinch the win.

At number one, Paul got past Nickolai Nielsen, 6-4, 6-4. It was his team leading 26th win of the season. Bates followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number six against Brauser. Hamar completed the victory with a 6-3, 6-1, win over Fink.

The matches involving Brett Ross, Mariusz Adamski and Liron Strauss were suspended once Wake Forest reached four team points.

Wake Forest rested its number three player, Cory Parr, in singles. That forced Ross, Adamski, and Strauss to play up a position and Bates entered the lineup at number six.

Maryland's season ends at 9-12.
