RALEIGH, NC - No. 2 seed North Carolina outlasted third-seeded Wake Forest 4-2 in a thrilling three-hour, 15-minute match to advance to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament finals at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center.

The Tar Heels will take on fifth-seeded Georgia Tech in Sunday's championship match, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

North Carolina earned the crucial doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead. Winning at No. 2 doubles was Nicholas Monroe and Daniel Pinchbeck and at No. 3 was Geoff Boyd and Trystan Meniane. In singles play, UNC was lead by Daniel Pinchbeck at No. 3, Nicholas Monroe at No. 4 and Andrew Metzler at No. 6.

For the Deacs, No. 1 David Loewenthal and No. 5 Mike Murray both defeated their opponents.

With the loss the Demon Deacons drop to 17-5 while North Carolina improves to 18-5 and will take on Georgia Tech in tomorrow's ACC Championship match. Wake Forest will await a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
