Wake Forest Cruises To Non-Conference Victory

Winston-Salem, NC - The 25th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team captured the first five points of the match and cruised to a 5-2 victory against 66th-ranked Brown on Thursday night at Leighton Tennis Stadium.

The Deacons scored convincing victories in doubles to build an early 1-0 lead. At number three doubles, Brett Ross and Charles Sartor eased to an 8-1 victory. Moments later at number two Mariusz Adamski and Cory Parr sealed the doubles point with an 8-5 victory. Andrew Hamar and Todd Paul completed the Old Gold and Black sweep at number one doubles, winning 8-7 (3).

In singles, Wake Forest continued to roll. At number one, Paul wasted no time in disposing Dan Hanegby, the nation's 63rd-ranked player, 6-2, 6-3. Three more Wake Forest victories were registered in short order. At number five, Adamski got past Chris Lee, 6-1, 6-3. Ross sealed the team win at number four by defeating Luke Tedaldi, 6-2, 6-4. At number three, Parr needed three sets, but recorded 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 victory against Saurabh Kohli.

Brown won the final two matches of the evening at number two and number six, respectively. 69th-ranked Hamar fell to Basudev Ratnam, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. At number six, Sam Garland defeated Sartor, 6-4, 7-6.

Wake Forest wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 8-4 mark. The Deacons continue their homestand this weekend at the Upper Eight Courts against Maryland on Saturday and Boston College on Sunday. Both showdowns are scheduled for high noon.
